Tejaswin Shankar. We are pretty sure many of you might not have heard his name. Well, we can also be pretty sure that you will get to know him in the coming years.
Labeled as 'India's high jump hope, the 6'4" athlete from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya on Lodhi Road broke the senior high jump national record while competing at the national junior championship in November 2016. He cleared 2.26 meters to break the 12-year-old record held by Harisankar Roy. Far ahead of the national competition and tantalizingly close to world championship levels, Tejaswin has demonstrated the kind of dedication and spirit that is the interconnection between every physically-gifted sportsperson and international success. It is both inspirational and astonishing to see a guy younger than all of us being touted as a medal-winner at the upcoming Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
We have our own athletes too. Freshers like Shubham Yadav who has one of the best techniques in high jump are sure to make us proud in the coming tournaments. With Yaswanth in Triple jump, the Athletics team of IIT Delhi sure has some good jumpers who are working very hard. The summer break is coming to an end and all our athletes are waiting to return to the track and practice even harder than last year.
