Athletics, the mother of all games, has been one of the oldest sports and dates back to 2250 BC. It includes track and field events based on basic human activities like running, jumping, throwing and walking. Athletics requires pushing the body to the limit so as to become "Faster, Higher and Stronger". It ends up teaching an athlete the lessons of perseverance, of conquering fear and pain.
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever." - Lance Armstrong
